Writing as Creative Communication
Course Overview
Writing is a tool for thinking and communicating, whether on campus or in the workplace. By writing, we can inspire creativity, organize thoughts, communicate ideas, and solve problems. This is a Chinese creative writing course with a focus on story-telling and its elements, structures, and skills. Students will learn how to transform these components into creative communications such as autobiographies, proposals, features on general scientific, cultural and social education, and journalism writing. Conducting this course as a workshop, the instructor will place students in writing groups and inspire their creativity to harness the power of language through discussing reading materials and giving feedback to one another’s writing assignments. The ultimate goal is to raise students’ appreciation for Writing as Creative Communication in the Chinese language.
